Paul Mortimer-Jones is a talented musician, a guitarist by specialism, with bass, music production and drums as secondary disciplines. After graduating with a degree in Music Performance and Production, Paul approached SMS with a view to embarking on private instrument teaching. We are delighted he wishes to join our team to help our students achieve their aspirations, whilst progressing his own music career.
Paul’s musical journey commenced nearly 10 years ago, inspired by the likes of Guns n’ Roses, Maroon 5, Oasis and Red Hot Chili Peppers. This led to guitar and drums as a player, in turn leading to vocals and self-accompaniment in performing and song writing, all of which continue to the present day.
A Level 2 Award in Music Technology led to a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music, then to a Foundation Degree in Popular Music, and finally a Bachelors Degree with Honors in Professional Music Performance and Production. Strong academically, Paul brings stylistic, technical and theoretical substance in contemporary music teaching, along with his developed playing ability.
Paul has performed with many bands across the south east of England, recorded numerous sessions in various styles and in many studios on guitar. He has written, arranged, recorded and produced a solo EP project (due for release soon), including arrangements of string, brass and piano parts. Paul has also accompanied Peredur ap Gwynedd (Guitarist of Pendulum) as part of a College Masterclass performance.
We are very pleased Paul has joined us, an asset to the provision of our music education, with references available on request.
